This case study outlines our strategy to address the lack of organizing capabilities for SKUs and Terms within RevOps. By building a new product called Categories, we hope to introduce:
Users with extensive SKU and Term libraries have highlighted areas where we can enhance discoverability and usability. At present, our system doesn't offer the capability to effectively categorize Terms and SKUs. As a result, all Terms and SKUs are readily available for inclusion in any Template or Deal, posing a challenge for Sales Representatives to easily select the right items to include on a deal.
This situation inevitably leads to friction, evidenced by feedback indicating that Sales Reps are adding incorrect Terms and SKUs to deals.
The category list view will provide our users with the ability to create new categories and review all existing ones. The information we will present here includes:
Once users click the Edit button they will access the Category Detail view.
Users will have the ability to edit existing categories and manage SKUs and Terms by simply clicking on the "Add" button in the respective section, all accessible through the category details interface.
Upon clicking the "Add Line Items" button, a popup window will appear where users can review the Line Items included in the Category. This window will display essential information such as the product image, product name, product code, pricing type, unit price, currency, and if the SKU exists in another Category. Users will have the ability to select and add the SKU to the current category from this window.
To help you more easily find the right SKUs in the popup, we will allow Searching and Filtering options:
We'll enhance the SKU Settings space to incorporate some of the concepts introduced with Categories. Presently, there's a lack of product images and the ability to display which category the SKUs are being added to within the space.
When creating or modifying Templates, you can now specify which Categories are permitted. All SKUs and Terms linked to a permitted Category can be added to the Template.
Categories without this permission cannot be utilized in these Templates. Moreover, SKUs and Terms associated with such restricted Categories will also lack Template permissions.
We'll also be making improvements to the deal editor to accommodate changes introduced in Categories.
The search input on the left side of the editor will be removed and replaced with an Add/Edit Line Item List button depending on if the list is empty.
Upon clicking, we will incorporate an improved UI for item selection where users can review SKUs. This window will display essential information such as the product image, product name, product code, pricing type, unit price, currency, and whether the line item has been added to the existing pricing table. Users will have the ability to select and add the SKU to the current pricing table from this window.
To help you better navigate through SKUs in the popup, we will allow Searching and Filtering options:
The same window will also appear when users click to add a pricing table or line item to a deal.
